PRE-HOMECOMING GOSPEL FESTIVAL EVENT ~
Monday ~ February 5, 2007

Gospel Festival Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Enjoy a gospel music extravaganza, featuring performances by the TNCC Gospel Choir, Youth Challenge Choir (Newport News), Colossian Baptist Church (Newport News) and other local church choirs and church praise dancers. Guest Emcee, Aisha McCollum, Co-host of Urban Gospel Showcase, WNSB Hot 91.9 and our own Reverend Wayne Davis.

TNCC Office Door Decorating Contest
“Catch the Spirit” by decorating your office door. Help to spread the TNCC spirit, win a prize and bragging rights. Decorations must be completed by February 5, 2007. Winners will be announced at the Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday. Prize: Free office lunch (up to 10 people or up to $150) with TNCC President Dr. Charles A. Taylor.
Participants must sign-up in advance by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

TNCC Week Long Community Scavenger Hunt
TNCC students can participate in the week long Community Scavenger Hunt. The Hunt includes visiting local businesses throughout the community, presenting a TNCC student ID and getting a free gift from each vendor. There will be a prize drawing for every participant that completes the entire scavenger hunt. Prizes to be announced. Participants must sign-up and pick up the list of participating vendors by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

TNCC COMMUNITY DAY ~ Tuesday ~ February 6, 2007

Community Day Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall 11:00 AM – 1:00 p.m.

Join TNCC students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and retirees along with local officials and community members in kicking-off the TNCC Homecoming 2007 festivities. TNCC President Dr. Charles A. Taylor and local mayors will be in attendance to bring greetings and Proclamations announcing TNCC Spirit Week. The TNCC Choral Ensemble will sing. TNCC retirees and alumni will be honored. Thomas Nelson will attend and emcee the event. A Greek Step Show will take place in the Courtyard after the program. Refreshments will be served immediately after the program.

TNCC PRIDE DAY ~ Wednesday ~ February 7, 2007

TNCC King and Queen Mini Pageant Gators Cafeteria, Griffin Hall 11:00 AM – 12:00 p.m.
Don’t miss the TNCC King and Queen Mini-Pageant. Contestants will share their ideas on “Why You Should Catch the TNCC Spirit”. Students can vote to select the candidates of their choice. Vote from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hampton and HT Campuses. Winners receive a TNCC Scholarship or Bookstore certificate, as follows: $150 for First Place, $75 for Second Place and $25 for Third Place.

Pageant contestants must sign-up in advance and complete an application by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

Gator Burger Eating Contest 12:00 p.m.
Will you accept the challenge of the Gator Burger Eating Contest? Contestants will race to see who will become the TNCC 2007 Gator Burger Eating Champion.

Prizes include: Free lunch for one week @ Gators for First Place and a TNCC Bookstore gift certificate for Second Place. Participants must sign-up in advance by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

Video Gaming Competition 12:30 p.m.
Can you handle the challenge! TNCC students, faculty and staff can win prizes by competing in a video gaming competition. Games include: Madden 07 for PS3, DDR-SuperNova, Need for Speed: Underground 2 and CapCom vs. SNK 2 for PS2, 007 Nightfire for Game Cube, Gears of War for XBox 360, as well as, Halo2 for XBox. Prizes: to be announced. Participants must sign-up in advance by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

TNCC TALENT SHOWCASE DAY ~ Thursday ~ February 8, 2007

Open Mic Entertainment Gators Cafeteria, Griffin Hall 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Do you sing or rap? do you dance? Do people often say you are funny? Should you be a comedian? Do you write poetry? Do you tell short stories? Showcase your talent during the Open Mic Entertainment. Participants may sign-up in advance to secure a place in the program or sign-up on-site. Advance sign-up deadline is January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

TNCC Students vs. Faculty/Staff Basketball Game TNCC Basketball Court 2:30 – 4:00 PM
TNCC President Dr. Charles A. Taylor will lead the faculty and staff team in a head to head competition against the student team led by Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, Vice-President for Student Affairs. Participants must sign-up in advance by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

WEAR YOUR TNCC SPIRIT DAY! ~ Friday ~ February 9, 2007

Spirit Day Pep Rally Gators Cafeteria, Griffin Hall 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Show your pride in TNCC by wearing your bold green and gold !

Join Lamont Struthers (former Portland Trailblazer, meet the TNCC Cheerleaders and the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players in a day of celebration. Winners of the Door Decorating Contest and the King and Queen Mini-Pageant will be announced. Enter the Most Outrageous Fan Competition and win prizes. Dress up in your most outrageous TNCC Fan outfit and lead the group in cheers to win. Everyone that attends get a TNCC Spirit gift.

CELEBRATE TNCC DAY ~ Saturday ~ February 10, 2007

Car Decorating Contest Harrison Hall Lot 1:00 p.m.

Show your TNCC pride – decorate your vehicle and enter the Car Decorating Contest. Participants should arrive in the Harrison Hall Parking Lot by 1:30 p.m. to be judged for the best car decorations. Prizes to be announced. Participants must sign-up to participate by January 29, 2007 in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus).

Join us in celebrating our love for TNCC by decorating your car and then participating in the TNCC fan processional to the Basketball games!

TNCC Fan Processional Harrison Hall Parking Lot 2:00 p.m.

Join the TNCC Fan Processional to the VSDB (Virginia School for the Deaf, Blind and Multi-Disabled), located at 700 Shell Road in Hampton. Maps are available in the Office of Student Activities (Hampton Campus) and the Office of Student Development (HT Campus). Cheer the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams to victory.

Minimum age: 18 and over (proof of age required).
