The American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC), Hampton Roads Chapter, Thomas Nelson Community College invites the community to a presentation entitled, Breaking through the Glass Ceiling: Leadership and Negotiation Skills with Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy, President, Eastern Shore Community College. The presentation, scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 will be held at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center, 600 Butler Farm Road from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m. There is no fee to attend this presentation. The local AAWCC also invites members of the community-at-large to join the organization. AAWCC is a national organization that champions women and helps them maximize their potential. For more than 30 years the AAWCC has promoted equity and excellence for women in community, junior and technical colleges.
TNCC formed the first chapter of the AAWCC in Virginia last October when officers Dr. Crystal Taylor, Sandy Spain, Dr. Deborah Fontaine, and Mattie Brisbane were installed. Membership benefits include: professional development, networking among community college women throughout the nation, advocacy on national issues and leadership opportunities.
Membership is open to all who support the AAWCC mission and who complete the membership form and pay membership dues. Interested individuals can submit the national AAWCC application form online at http://www.aawccnatl.org/mc/page.do.
