As Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) continues to grow and expand its programs and services to meet the higher education and training needs of Peninsula residents, the College is proud to partner with An Achievable Dream Academy in establishing the Southeast Higher Education Center. Through our partnership with an Achievable Dream, TNCC is offering evening courses in the Southeast Newport News community. The College is committed to increasing our citizens’ knowledge, improving their skills and boosting their earning power to ensure the economic vitality and future of the greater Virginia Peninsula.

The Southeast Higher Education Center offers general education courses that lead to an associate degree or career certificate in more than 100 disciplines, including but not limited to Administrative Support Technology, Business Administration, Human Services Information Technology, and Nursing. Students may complete 25% to 49% of their required coursework before transitioning to the main campus.

Anyone age 18 or older, or who holds a high school diploma or GED can be admitted to TNCC, provided the individual can demonstrate ability to benefit from a program of study. First-time students should submit a high school transcript, GED or equivalent. Transfer students should submit all college transcripts. All students new to the College, and those returning after a three-year or more absence, must complete the Application for Admission and Application for Virginia In-State Tuition (if Virginia domicile is desired). There is no application fee.

Placement tests assist the College in determining the courses for which you are ready. After you have submitted your application for admission, an Admissions representative will determine which placement test (or testing) you will be required to take.

Thomas Nelson Community College offers a variety of financial aid programs to those that qualify. To apply for financial assistance, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All financial aid forms are available online at TNCC’s School Code is 006871.

Enrollment Services
Students enrolling for classes at the Southeast Higher Education Center will be able to purchase books, obtain a student I.D. card, pay for tuition, apply for admissions, register for classes, and receive academic and/or financial aid advising.
