The LLC offers the following services to TNCC students currently enrolled in foreign language or language-related course and to TNCC faculty and staff:
- a classroom where faculty work with students using instructional materials (audio, video, and computer software)
- specialized language learning software for classroom instruction;
- digitized educational materials for distribution from the media server;
- library-mode workstations, study areas where students use audio-visual materials and work individually or in groups at their own pace;
- research via the Internet;
- CD and DVD duplication;
- Placement Test for ESL, Spanish, French, & German
The services performed in the LLC, such as digitizing and duplicating of instructional materials, meet the guidelines set by Thomas Nelson Community College and are done only with written permission from the publisher. As of Spring 2008, the center began administering the webCAPE Foreign Language Placement Test for Spanish, French, and German, and the Accuplacer English as a Second Language Placement Test.
Services for Students
- Assist students with academic work related to foreign language, ESL, & ASL courses
- Make copies of instructional materials authorized by the publisher
- Video and Audio recordings
- Watch videos files such as AVI, WMA, and MPEG
- Listen to audio files
- B/W printing only (5 pages/print)
- Administer Placement Tests for ESL, Spanish, French, and German
Services for Faculty
- Assist faculty in producing instructional materials
- Digitize any analog audio or video
- Voice recordings
- Test and evaluate instructional materials to be used in the center
- Broadcast both audio and video files
- Color printing (under 5 pages/print)
- Scanning (TIF or PDF format)
