Apprentice School Director is Keynote Speaker for TNCCs 42nd Commencement

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) will celebrate its 42nd commencement ceremony Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at the Hampton University Convocation Center. Everett Jordan, Director of Education for Newport News Shipbuilding’s Apprentice School, will deliver the keynote address.

Jordan is a 1977 graduate of The Apprentice School and attended TNCC. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University and a Master’s degree in Education from The George Washington University. He currently represents Poquoson as a member of the TNCC Board.

Jordan has a 37-year history with Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, beginning his career in 1973 as a shipfitter apprentice. He has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility ranging from foreman to trades director. As Director of Education for the company’s 91-year-old apprentice program, Jordan is responsible for all aspects of the four- to five-year program, ensuring that qualified candidates are educated and trained to become the company’s leaders of tomorrow.
