The Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) Players and Performing Arts department will have auditions for the Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s musical, “Cinderella,” on Monday, August 29 and Tuesday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. on the Hampton campus in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall.
Auditions for the production, which opens Friday, November 11 at the College, will consist of cold readings from the script and movement exercises. Directors ask that auditioners prepare 16 measures of a vocal selection and be prepared to sing an additional piece in a contrasting style upon request.
The original production was written for television, with music by Richard Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on the fairy tale Cinderella, it is the story of a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother and egomaniacal stepsisters. Aided by a fairy godmother, Cinderella is transformed into a princess and finds her prince.
