Peninsula K-Next Manufacturing Technology Summer Camp
Explore high-tech manufacturing careers in this hands-on summer camp designed for freshman, sophomore and junior high school students with input from area businesses.
The camp runs July 9-12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 13 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center, 600 Butler Farm Road, in Hampton.
Participants will build and operate a semi-robotic manufacturing machine, design an environmentally friendly manufacturing process, plan a marketable product and participate in friendly competitions. In addition, campers explore the world of entrepreneurship. The camp features TNCC faculty and industry professionals who act as coaches and guide students through a real manufacturing process using hands-on activities, demonstrations and “field trips”.
The $59 camp fee is no longer refundable after registration closes on July 5th. To register, complete the application, registration and photo release forms (see links below) and email to email@example.com or call 757-865-3123.

Imagineering & Creative Technology
“Imagineering & Creative Technology” is scheduled for August 7-10 and is open to students who have previously attended a Peninsula K-Next! Camp session. Students will focus on more advance technological skills like more in-depth CAD programs and 3D printing machines. This camp will require student companies to seek funding for their products from a panel of judges, similar to the television show “Shark Tank.” The cost to attend is $75 and includes all materials, breakfast and lunch daily, and company visits.
