Founded in 1967, Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. TNCC is the fourth largest among 23 community colleges in Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). TNCC provides affordable higher education opportunities for citizens of the six communities of Hampton, Newport News, James City County, York County, Poquoson, and Williamsburg. The College offers comprehensive instructional programs including associate degrees and career certificates. TNCC has two campuses in Hampton and Williamsburg, and a satellite site at the Southeast Higher Education Center located at An Achievable Dream Middle & High School in Newport News.
The Hampton campus is 86.5 acres with eight academic buildings, a Wellness Center, and support offices.

The Historic Triangle Campus includes a 120,000-square-foot, three-story facility that contains 25 classrooms, seven computer classrooms, five science laboratories, a Nursing laboratory and numerous offices.
The Learning Resources Center at the Historic Triangle Campus is a multi-media center offering instructional support to promote academic success. Services include a 40-station, open-access academic computer lab that is available to students.
The College’s Dental Hygiene Program occupies 5,000 square feet on the second floor of the Williamsburg facility. The program boasts state-of-art facilities that enable faculty to equip students with skills to provide top quality patient care.

Through our partnership with An Achievable Dream Middle & High School, TNCC offers evening courses in the Southeast Newport News community.
The Southeast Higher Education Center offers general education courses that lead to an associate degree or career certificate in more than 100 disciplines.
These opportunities include programs in Administrative Support Technology, Business Administration, Human Services Information Technology, and Nursing.

To provide just-in-time workforce education and customized training to Peninsula businesses and residents, Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development established training facilities at the Discovery Center in Williamsburg.
Located in Williamsburg’s New Town area, the center is a collaboration between Thomas Nelson Community College, the College of William and Mary, and James City County which facilitates first-class training and economic and workforce development services for public and private organizations.
The center serves as an engine for starting, growing, and attracting technology-related businesses essential to Greater Williamsburg’s success.
