The business’s arrangement with the college pays trainees while filling job needs now.
Canon Virginia’s big expansion project locally is quickly acquiring workers through its unique partnership with Thomas Nelson Community College’s Workforce Development office.
The opportunities couldn’t come at a better time for workers looking to gain skills while earning a salary — and getting their training paid for.
“Canon is hiring them before they receive the education and training that they need,” said Deborah Wright, TNCC’s vice president for Workforce Development, “and then paying them a salary while they go to school and go to work. And that’s what’s different about this pipeline.”
