Thomas Nelson Community College will be among 11 community colleges across the state welcoming students and families to College Night in Virginia on Monday, November 26 from 6:00 to 9:15 p.m. Students and families interested in exploring how to choose the right higher education path can take advantage of this statewide event at TNCC’s new Southeast Higher Education Center located at the Achievable Dream Academy, 5720 Marshall Ave. in Newport News.
Designed to educate families and students about the many aspects of higher education, the event is sponsored by the Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) in partnership with Virginia College Access Network (VirginiaCAN), Virginia Association of Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA), State Council for Higher Education (SCHEV), and Project Discovery.
Open to the public, the evening’s activities include refreshments served at 6:00 p.m.; registration for one of four $500 scholarship prizes at each of the hosting institutions; a 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. welcome/general session for all attendees and four breakout sessions starting at 8:15 p.m. The breakout sessions will provide valuable insight from higher education professionals and are as follows:

ECMC, in partnership with SCHEV and VASFAA, has created a step-by-step guide, which includes FAQs, checklists, helpful tips, and other valuable information.
