Nepal Dance School will present Bollywood and Kathak dance November 2 at noon at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC). Free and open to the public, the performance will be held in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall, Hampton campus.
Based in Washington, D.C., the Nepal Dance School uses dance and music instruction and performances to promote cultural enrichment and diversity. The performers entertain and educate audiences with Bollywood, which features a mix of folk and classical Indian choreography, and Kathak, one of the eight major classical dances in India. Visual presentations and audience participation enhance the learning opportunities.
A partnership with Young Audiences of Virginia allows the group to reach students throughout Virginia with educational art programs. Nepal Dance School also works with other groups in Virginia, including the Indian Dance Educators Association, India International School, Workhouse Center for the Arts, and the Fairfax Park and Recreation Department.
