Thomas Nelson Community College President Charles A. Taylor has announced the addition of two administrators to the College’s executive leadership team. Mr. Charles A. Nurnberger has been named Vice President for Finance and Administration. Ms. Catherine L. Szpindor is the new Vice President for Information Technology. “As we continue to grow, the strong leadership and expertise of these highly qualified professionals in finance and administration and information technology will enable the College to achieve our institutional goals,” said Dr. Taylor.
Mr. Charles A. Nurnberger ? Vice President for Finance and Administration
Mr. Nurnberger brings more than 25 years of administrative and financial experience to the College having worked for municipal government and higher education entities. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from York College of Pennsylvania and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University at Newark, New Jersey. He served as Vice President for Administrative Services at Bergen Community College, Paramus, New Jersey, before joining Thomas Nelson.
Mr. Nurnberger’s responsibilities include Financial Services, Facilities, Facilities Planning and Capital Outlay, Financial Aid, and the Office of Campus Police and Parking Services.
He resides in Williamsburg with wife Vickie, and their daughters, Abigail and Gretchen, who will be attending Bruton High School next year.
Ms. Catherine L. Szpindor ? Vice President for Information Technology
Ms. Szpindor brings more than 29 years of experience to the College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resources from Brenau University at Gainesville, Georgia and a Master’s Degree in Technology Management from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. She also completed studies in Delivering Information Services at Harvard University’s Business School and completed a Strategic Business Leadership Certificate Program at Georgetown University. Before joining Thomas Nelson, she was Vice President of Information Technology Strategy and Enterprise Applications at the Sprint-Nextel Corporation, Herndon, Virginia.
Ms. Szpindor’s responsibilities include Network Services, Telecommunications, Help Desk and PC Support, PeopleSoft Enterprise Services, IT Security, Web Development & Support, Distance Learning Tech Support, and Audio-Visual Services.
She resides in Hampton with husband, Ron. They have three sons, Brett, Stuart and Ronnie and a four-month-old granddaughter, Greer Jillian.
