On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Thomas Nelson Community College, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and solidarity to the victims of the tragic events at Virginia Tech. Also, I would like to express our appreciation to the Virginia Tech Campus Police and hundreds of emergency responders and medical professionals who assisted in the crisis.

The students, faculty, and staff at Thomas Nelson Community College feel the pain and loss of our counterparts at Virginia Tech. The loss of lives is an unimaginable heartache. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the students, families, faculty and staff affected by the tragedy.

As President of an academic institution, I would also like to express support for President Charles W. Steger, and the leadership of Virginia Tech, our colleagues in the academic community.

I have instructed the TNCC Student Development Office to continue to provide counseling services whenever necessary for our College family and asked the College’s Executive Leadership Team and Campus Police to provide assistance as requested to support Virginia Tech.

At Thomas Nelson Community College, we care deeply about our students, faculty and staff. In the aftermath of these tragic events, I have instructed the Executive Leadership Team to thoroughly monitor and implement effective crisis communication procedures to continue to ensure the safety of the College Community.
