If you’re planning to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, Thomas Nelson is the perfect place to start. The Liberal Arts curriculum includes writing, public speaking, history, social science and other core courses that are transferrable to more than 20 Virginia colleges and universities, including Old Dominion University, William & Mary, Christopher Newport University, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Tech. Thomas Nelson graduates who complete the program with a certain grade point average benefit from guaranteed admission to many Virginia state colleges and universities.

Thomas Nelson’s music program caters to vocalists and instrumentalists with courses in applied music and music theory. The applied music courses offer private instruction in voice, piano, strings, woodwinds and other instruments. Thomas Nelson’s Concert Choir presents classical, jazz, spirituals and musical theatre selections accompanied by our Steinway & Sons grand piano. You can also hone your craft with a role in one of Thomas Nelson’s theatrical productions. The College presents a musical, play and an operetta every year.

Theatre Performance

Actors, technicians and designers thrive in Thomas Nelson’s Theatre Performance program. The curriculum includes hands-on training in acting, technical theatre and design. Thomas Nelson produces a play, a musical and an operetta every year, offering you exciting opportunities to join the cast and the crew.

Thomas Nelson provides students with a high-quality education at a fraction of the cost of four-year schools. The professors I have had have been absolutely outstanding.

Elizabeth Raney

I was well-prepared for the long rehearsal periods that go into performances because of the Performing Arts department. They gave me so many skills that I still use now in my auditions and in my classes and performances.

Joshua Crawford, Virginia Commonwealth University

The best part of the program is, without question, the instructors. Every professor I have worked with has been not only knowledgeable, but passionate, especially the music professors. They love music and want to share it with their students. They encourage us to do well, and when we do, they are full of praise.
