Mary Immaculate Hospital Scholarship
The Mary Immaculate Hospital Scholarship was established in 1994 for TNCC nursing students.

Amount
$1,100 or two $550 scholarships awarded if the recipients have completed their General Education Diploma (GED) requirements

Semester(s) Awarded
Awarded in fall and divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. A GPA of 2.5 must be maintained in order to receive the award for the spring semester.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as full-time students at TNCC or have completed all nursing general education requirements;
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5;
  • Accepted into the TNCC Nursing Program; and
  • Award recipients must agree to accept employment at Mary Immaculate Hospital (if offered) at the rate of one calendar year of employment for each academic year of financial assistance ($1,200).

In addition to standard Application Packet include

  • Three written recommendations from the TNCC faculty, one of which must be from the head of the nursing department; and
  • A copy of the applicant’s most recent school transcript.


Riverside Regional Medical Center Scholarship - Fund
The Riverside RMC Scholarship - Fund provides a special opportunity for financial assistance to TNCC nursing students.

Awarded in fall and divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. A GPA of 2.5 must be maintained in order to receive the award for the spring semester.

Requirements

  • Be accepted into the nursing curriculum at TNCC;
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 or better; and
  • Award recipients must agree to accept employment at Riverside Regional Medical Center (if offered) at the rate of one calendar year of employment for each academic year of financial assistance.


Sentara CarePlex Hospital Scholarship
The Sentara CarePlex Hospital Scholarship was established in 1994 to assist nursing students in the pursuit of their education.

$1,200 or two $600 scholarships awarded if the recipients have completed their General Education Diploma (GED) requirements

  • Enrolled as full-time students at TNCC or have completed all GED requirements;

  • Accepted into the TNCC nursing program; and
  • Award recipients must agree to accept employment at Sentara CarePlex Hospital (if offered) at the rate of one calendar year of employment for each academic year of financial assistance ($1,200). In addition to standard Application Packet include
  • Three written recommendations from the TNCC faculty, one of which must be from the chairperson of the nursing department; and
  • A copy of the applicant’s most recent school transcript.


Williamsburg Community Health Foundation Scholarships
The Williamsburg Community Health Foundation funds a scholarship to help pay for tuition, fees, and books for students in the nursing or Allied Health curriculum. The amount of the scholarship will be dependent on the number of qualified applicants. Preference is given to Eastern State Hospital Employees.

  • An employee of Eastern State Hospital or a resident of the Greater Williamsburg area;
  • Accepted into the nursing or Allied Health curriculum; and
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.


Ranae Kszepka Memorial Scholarship
The Ranae Kszepka Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 to assist a Thomas Nelson Community College nursing student.

Requirements

  • Must be accepted into the nursing curriculum;
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25;
  • Equivalent GPA from previous institution attended, if a transfer student; and
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

In addition to standard Application Packet include:

  • Two letters of recommendation - one from the TNCC nursing department head and one from another TNCC faculty member.


Herman L. Hardy Memorial Scholarship
In January 2005, TNCC nursing student Herman L. Hardy, 50, died in a motor vehicle accident. Herman served in the U. S. Army and was employed with the U.S. Postal Services for many years before deciding to make a career change. He enrolled as a nursing student at Thomas Nelson, and was the only male nurse to graduate in May 2004. At the time of his death, he was employed as a registered nurse by Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia.
TNCC nursing alumni donated funds in Herman’s memory to provide a scholarship in his name for the Fall 2005 semester.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.


Billy Joe Burks Nursing Scholarship

Mr. Billy Joe Burks established this Scholarship in 2007 to assist students pursuing a career in the nursing profession.

Up to $2,000

Semester(s) Awarded
Two (2) Scholarships will be awarded annually for as long as funds exist.

Requirements
Applicants for the Billy Joe Burks Nursing Scholarship must:

  • Be a nursing student enrolled at the Hampton campus;
  • Must demonstrate financial need, but not qualify for significant other financial aid as determined by the Director of Scholarships; and
  • Scholarship may be renewed for second year so long as the student remains enrolled in the nursing program.

James & Virginia Taylor Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

The James and Virginia Taylor Endowed Scholarship was established in 2007 to assist students pursuing a career in the nursing profession.

Scholarship will be awarded in the fall and divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.  A GPA of 2.5 must be maintained in order to receive the award for the spring semester.

Requirements
Applicants for the James & Virginia Taylor Endowed Scholarship in Nursing must:

  • Be a High school graduate with GPA of 2.5 or better;
  • Enrolled as a full-time student at TNCC;
  • Accepted into the TNCC Nursing Program; and
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the TNCC Director of Scholarships in conjunction with applicant’s eligibility for other resources and/or financial aid.
