Course Description and Pre-requisites
CHI 101 Beginning Chinese I
(5 credits) Prerequisite(s): ENF 1 or ENF 2 as demonstrated through the placement and diagnostics tests or equivalent. Introduces understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills; emphasizes basic Chinese sentence structure. Prerequisite: Part I of II. Lecture 5 hours per week.
CHI 102 Beginning Chinese II
(5 credits) Prerequisite(s): CHI 101. Introduces understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills; emphasizes basic Chinese sentence structure. Prerequisite: Part II of II. Lecture 5 hours per week.
CHI 201 Conversational Chinese (Mandarin) I
(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): CHI 102. Offers intensive practice in comprehending and speaking Chinese, with emphasis on developing structure and fluency. Part I of II. Lecture 4 hours per week.
CHI 202 Conversational Chinese (Mandarin) II
