Special Notes : EMT Basic to Intermediate and Paramedic. All 3 courses must be taken simultaneously. Classes are delivered at the Hampton Fire Training Facility, 1300 Thomas Street, Hampton, Va. Paramedic classes are taught by the Center for Emergency Medical Services and students are required to visit their web site, center4ems.org, and complete their program registration form. There is an additional one-time administrative fee of $600.00, payable to the Center, which is due by the first class meeting.

Full Course Description : (4 credits) Co-requisite(s): EMS 170. Prepares the student for Virginia Enhanced certification eligibility and begins the sequence for National Registry Intermediate and/or Paramedic certification. Includes the theory and application of the following: foundations, human systems, pharmacology, overview of shock, venous access, airway management, patient assessment, respiratory emergencies, allergic reaction, and assessment based management. Conforms at a minimum to the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services curriculum. Lecture 3 hours + lab 2 hours = total 5 hours per week.
