The above section will be conducted in a combination of traditional classroom lecture and online (Distance Learning) delivery. Students must have regular access to a computer and the Internet to successfully complete this course. There will be two distance learning orientation sessions - one from 5-6 pm in room 100 on (Wednesday) January 8, 2014 at the Historic Triangle Campus and the second held on (Thursday) January 9, 2014, from 5-6pm in the Mary Christian Auditorium on the Hampton Campus. (4 credits) ART 291/292 must be taken in sequence. Prerequisite(s): ART 291. Introduces students to using the computer as a publishing system. Examines stages of a publication from typesetting, laying out, creating and digitizing of illustrations and photographs, to the final printing. Requires students to write, design, illustrate and print pamphlets on the computer, including one full-color publication. Lecture 2 hours + studio instruction 4 hours = total 6 hours per week.
