Advising has outlined a clear track to my goals.

Ashley Ables has her sights on becoming a lawyer and put her plan in motion by enrolling at Thomas Nelson Community College in 2015. Thomas Nelson’s co-enrollment agreement with the College of William & Mary attracted her and she’s working diligently to become eligible.

Ables moved to Virginia from California to live with her mother expressly for the higher education opportunities. She saw Thomas Nelson as the most ideal and economically-sound path to William & Mary. The political science major could not be more pleased with her choice. “Advising has outlined a clear track to my goals. Also my professors have been engaging and very knowledgeable in their fields. That has motivated me to continue higher education beyond Thomas Nelson,” she said.

Positioning herself for a career in either civil rights or constitutional law, she plans to major in political science at William & Mary and ultimately attend law school. When she’s not concentrating on classes and future plans, Ables spends time serving as a political intern with the Sierra Club headquartered in Norfolk. Her previous experience in the political area includes internships with the campaigns of Virginia Sen. John C. Miller and Shelly Simonds, who sought the Virginia House of Delegates’ 94th district seat.
