U.S. Navy veteran Victoria Frianeza earned an Associate of Science degree in Social Science in May 2013.

Majoring in Health Sciences with a minor in Administration, the York County resident was heavily immersed in campus life. She served as president of the Ballroom Dance Club, vice president of the Veterans Affairs Club, student ambassador and member of the Red Cross Club. She was also active with the Student Government Association.

“[Thomas Nelson Community College] has given me a sense of family, support and unity that has allowed me to grow,” she said. “Thomas Nelson Community College was able to help me prepare for my transition in many ways. First, the staff at Thomas Nelson was supportive. I was a member of TRiO, which also aided in my transition. TRiO assisted me in understanding the courses I needed in order to transfer to [Old Dominion University (ODU)] with ease. They even assisted in calling ODU to ensure my plan was appropriate for my future needs. Lastly, Thomas Nelson gave me a great network of support.
