Advanced Academic Degrees Granted to Three Thomas Nelson Community College Educators

THE VIRGINIA PENINSULA – Three Thomas Nelson Community College educators have been granted advanced academic degrees. They are: Sharon J. Cotman, Professor of Information Systems Technology, received her Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Higher Education Administration from George Washington University. Cotman is a Thomas Nelson alumna and joined the College as a faculty member in 1984. Cotman is a resident of York County.

Timothy G. Wiedman, Associate Professor of Business Management, received his Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) degree from Argosy University of Sarasota, Fla., effective March 31, 2006. Wiedman majored in Management, and his doctoral dissertation was entitled: “The Relationship between Industrial Safety and Profitability: Developing an Empirical Model.” Wiedman is Assistant Dean/Team Leader for the Business, Management/Marketing and Accounting programs, and was recently elected as First Vice President of the Thomas Nelson Community College Faculty Senate. He has been a faculty member at Thomas Nelson since 1992. Wiedman is a resident of Hampton.
