Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) has launched a new online incident reporting platform called Threat Assessment, Incident Management and Prevention Services (TIPS) that allows students, faculty, staff and others on campus to confidentially report potentially harmful incidents.
An award-winning suite of web-based tools developed by the privately held organization Awareity, the platform empowers individuals to anonymously report suspicious activities involving assault, weapons, illegal drug/alcohol use, harassment or intimidation, vandalism, threats of violence, suicide risk, sexual harassment, abuse and other incidents.

In compliance with Workplace Violence Prevention and Threat Assessment Policy guidelines from the State Board for Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS), Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) enhanced procedures to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff and others on TNCC campuses and at TNCC-affiliated special events, professional functions and in state vehicles.
The State Board established guidelines for Virginia’s 23 community colleges to develop workplace and general campus violence prevention plans. Among guidelines is the formation of campus threat assessment teams and the promotion and maintenance of a productive environment for learning and working that is free from threats, intimidation and violence.
