Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development will host a Hampton Police Law Enforcement Job Recruiting Session on Wednesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. in Room 726 in TNCC’s Hampton III Building, located at 525 Butler Farm Road. The Fair is free and open to TNCC students and the general public. The dress code is business casual.

Available positions include: Police Patrol Officer, 911 Dispatcher, Forensic Specialist, Staff Technician, Information Clerk, Records Clerk, School Crossing Guard and Administrative Assistant, and Police Cadet. This Fair connects qualified jobseekers with the region’s top employers. Since many employers conduct on-site interviews, participants are strongly encouraged to wear professional dress and to bring extra copies of their resumes.

TNCC Offers New Career Studies Certificate in Human Services

HAMPTON, Va. – Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) has expanded its offerings this spring semester to include a new career studies certificate in Human Services. The Benefits Program Specialist certificate program prepares individuals for work as entry level benefits/eligibility providers within the Commonwealth’s Social Services system.

Benefits Program Specialists help people navigate through a myriad of Social Services government assistance programs. These professionals provide assistance ranging from information about eligibility criteria and help in applying for benefits, to assistance in receiving benefits, covered services or appealing denials and terminations.

TNCC Hosts Career Camp for Teens June 21-25

Some local high school students in grades 10 and 11 will be off to camp this summer but not just any ordinary summer camp. Thanks to career coaches at Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Office of Outreach and Recruitment and the Newport News Public Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department these campers will be on the fast track to charting plans for their future careers.

Set for June 21-25 on TNCC’s Hampton campus and open to 25 students, the summer camp is called Time for New Career Choices: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM ) 101. The weeklong camp will give students an opportunity to explore careers in the healthcare field that are STEM-related.

Set for July 6-10 on TNCC’s Hampton campus, the summer camp is called Time for New Career Choices: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM ) 101. Activities from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the weeklong camp will give 35 students an opportunity to expand their horizons in making decisions about careers while also taking a realistic look at STEM-related careers.
