Thomas Nelson Community College students, faculty, and staff are gearing up for the College’s second annual homecoming celebration. Themed Fabulous at 40 in recognition of TNCC’s fortieth anniversary, Spirit Week festivities begin Monday, Feb. 4 with an 11:00 a.m. Community Day program in the Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Hampton campus. Alumni, retirees and community leaders including Hampton Mayor Ross A. Kearney, II, Newport News Mayor Joe S. Frank, Williamsburg Mayor Jeanne Zeidler and York County Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas G. Shepperd, Jr. are expected to attend the official opening day event.
Opening day will also include appearances by a few local celebrities who will be signing autographs from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Gators Cafeteria, Hampton campus. Those scheduled include hockey player Shawn Collymore, #40 of the Norfolk Admirals and Serina, a TNCC Nursing student who is a featured model in a nationally circulated calendar. Rounding out Feb. 4 events, a Gospel Festival showcasing local choirs, TNCC students and employees is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Mary T. Christian Auditorium.
