Local Production Company Brings Tragic Comedy to TNCC

Poquoson Island Players will open its 2012-2013 season with Beth Henley’s “Crimes of the Heart” September 21–30 at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Hampton campus. The show is open to the public with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. shows on Sundays. Tickets are $18 general admission and $15 for students and senior citizens.
In this tragic comedy, three Mississippi sisters face as heap of misfortune throughout their lives. The latest family tragedy finds the youngest sister, Babe, grappling with criminal charges after shooting her abusive husband. As the older sisters try to help Babe, they come face-to-face with some of their own dysfunction. Humor ensues as the sisters face their hardship together.
Student Activities Day Sept. 6 on Hampton Campus

Thomas Nelson Community College will host Student Activities Day on Tuesday, September 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students are invited to gather in the campus courtyard near Griffin Hall to meet the 2011-12 Student Government Association leaders and learn more about Student Life at TNCC.
The event will feature Comedian Jonathan Burns as special guest. Back at TNCC by popular demand, Burns specializes in stand-up comedy, juggling, contortionism, and sideshow stunts. When he is not performing at festivals and colleges around the globe, he completes graphic design projects for other performers.
