Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) student Christopher Duke was among students statewide chosen as 2011 Commonwealth Legacy Scholars. Representing Virginia’s 23 community colleges, the students will receive scholarships of up to $3,500 for the 2011-2012 school year. The Legacy Scholars will be honored in November during a Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE) luncheon in Charlottesville.
The Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Program was established in 2006 through the generosity of VFCCE donors to recognize students who demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to developing their leadership skills during high school, according to Dr. Glenn DuBois, Chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Each scholarship bears the name of individual philanthropy leaders who support VCCS schools.
