Reminder – Students enter the STUDENT WRITING CONTEST

This competition closes at noon on Thursday, October 23, 2008.

Two categories: SHORT STORY &  POETRY
Eligibility:  contest is open to all currently enrolled TNCC students, both full- and part-time.

Prizes:  1st $100; 2nd $75; 3rd $50; 4th $25; 5th $15.    Guidelines:  Students must submit THREE COPIES of each entry.  Students may enter either or both categories.  Entries should be original and previously unpublished compositions.  Entries should be typed (double-spaced) on 8 and 1/2 by 11 paper.  Students should fill out entry forms (available at main desk of library; outside Student Activities Office, room 224; outside Communications & Humanities Office in Templin Hall, or Office 114 in Building C at the Historic Triangle.  Students’ names should NOT appear on any page of submitted poetry or short story.  Submissions with attached entry forms should be turned in to main desk at the library on Hampton campus or to Office C-114 at the Historic Triangle campus by noon, Thursday, October 23, 2008. Students should retain a copy of each entry because submissions to this contest cannot be returned.

Thomas Nelson Community College Unveils New Brand Identity

The Virginia Peninsula – Thomas Nelson Community College has unveiled its new logo after a branding campaign that began in January. In addition to the new logo, the College has also adopted a new branding statement that reflects Thomas Nelson as an institution. The new branding statement is “Explore. Excel. Succeed.”

“The introduction of the new College logo along with a new branding statement aims to clearly express the growth and development of the College,” said Dr. Charles A. Taylor, Thomas Nelson President. “The contemporary look of the new logo reflects a progressive student-oriented learning and working environment where students come to explore the opportunities and find that with the support of the faculty and staff they can excel and succeed in achieving their educational goals.”
