Word-Beat combines the artistry of singer/actor Charles Williams and global-jazz percussionist Tom Teasley to perform the inspirational texts of such authors as Langston Hughes and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrapped in powerful percussive grooves and uplifting melodies.

Please read about the sensational TNCC-Iron Street production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” The musical 10/14 at 8:00 in the Mary T. Christian Auditorium with a Sunday matinee tomorrow at 3:00; it will also run next weekend, Friday-Sunday. It’s an historic first musical for the College and one I guarantee you won’t want to miss.

Thomas Nelson Community College faculty member Shar Wolff has received the Bettie Minette Cooper Arts Educator Award. The photography department head was acknowledged on Nov. 9 among honorees at the 2008 Alli Awards at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Presented annually by the Cultural Alliance of Greater Hampton Roads, the Alli Awards celebrate contributions in the past year to the local arts community by individuals, businesses and the media.
