Thomas Nelson Community College has expanded its offerings to include an array of new degree and certificate programs.  The added programs give students an opportunity to earn the academic credentials necessary for several career fields ranging from teaching and engineering to fire science and emergency medical technology.

The Associate in Science with a specialization in Math Education prepares students for teaching careers in secondary mathematics.  Qualified students become eligible to apply for the Seamless Teacher Education Program, a dual enrollment opportunity with Old Dominion University.  Another new degree program, the Associate in Applied Science in Electronics with a specialization in Electrical Engineering Technology, prepares students for transfer to a four-year university program in Electrical Engineering Technology.  In addition to coursework in electronics, it includes courses in fiber optics, physics and calculus.
