Thomas Nelson Community College’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was named second runner up in its field during the 2010 SIFE USA Regional Competition. The team traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to compete against others from across the nation and was the only community college team to win in the March 21 event.
TNCC students faced teams from 10 four-year colleges/universities and were acknowledged for a presentation about their 2010-2011 projects, according to Professor of Business Sandra Robertson, SIFE faculty adviser. The team’s projects included a Mock Great Eight Nations Summit, a “Dress for Success” business wear donation event and an HIV/AIDS Awareness program. The ventures impacted more than 600 people including adults and teens Peninsula-wide and the HIV/AIDS awareness event — in cooperation with several local clubs and organizations — raised funds for donation to the “Trees for Life” organization in Kenya, Africa.
