The new Historic Triangle campus is poised to open in 2009 as construction nears completion. Recently taken photos of the building’s exterior show how the campus is taking shape.

The first photo shows the graded roadway around the front of the building which will not be open for regular traffic; fire trucks and ambulances must have complete access to the structure. The second and third photos show outside benches being installed at the new Historic during the week of December 1.

Photographs taken recently at the new Historic Triangle campus on Opportunity Way at the Warhill site show that a number of areas are taking shape in preparation for the campus’s 2009 opening.

The first photo looks into the “student services” area from behind the staircase. The second is the view from inside the student services area. As shown in the photo, someone located at the reception desk will be able to see visitors entering the building and visitors will be able to see that individual as well.

Historic Triangle Campus Update: Science Labs and Construction

Science labs, student study rooms in the Learning Resource Center, and the terrazzo floor in the main hallways in the first building of the College’s new Historic Triangle campus are taking shape as construction continues..

While much of the exterior construction work is practically complete, a great deal of interior work is ongoing in anticipation of the targeted 2009 opening of the new campus which is situated on nearly 74 acres at the Warhill Site in James City County.

Cupola Latest Addition to Campus : The Daily Press

Construction trailers fill the parking lot. Hard-hat-topped workers swarm unfinished interiors. A few windows lack glass. But the first building of Thomas Nelson Community College’s Historic Triangle Campus is only months from completion.

Tuesday, workers added a square, windowed cupola to the top of the three-story masonry and brick building, one of five planned for the 73-acre site next to Warhill High School on Opportunity Way, just off Centerville Road.

New Dean of Student Development Joins TNCC’s Historic Triangle Campus

Dr. Betsy T. Harrison has joined Thomas Nelson Community College as Dean of Student Development for the College’s Historic Triangle campus. Dr. Harrison brings to TNCC seven years of Virginia Community College administrative experience.

Prior to her joining TNCC, she served as the Director of Counseling and Student Success Services on the Chester Campus of John Tyler Community College. Under her leadership this office provided counseling and advising services, ADA, new student orientation, freshman orientation courses, tutoring, and academic and career coaching in the high schools. “We are excited to bring on board a professional who is truly committed to the mission of the community college and the students it serves and who has experience starting student affairs operations at new locations,” said Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, VP for Student Affairs. Dr. Harrison has been a resident of the Williamsburg community for thirty-two years. She will be responsible for the counseling, registration, and financial aid services on the Historic Triangle Campus.
