Teaching andlearning at Thomas Nelson Community College has taken a bigstep forward with the implementation of wireless technology in various areas of the college’s Hamptoncampus. While still in its initial phase, this new technologyfrees faculty and students from the constraints and clutter of wires and allows them to work from their laptops, connect to the Internet to conduct research, and communicate with each other via e-mail without a cable connection.
Wireless technology also allows students to access the Internet and other online resources while using their personal laptops in group study areas in various buildings on campus, the cafeteria and in the outdoor Courtyard area. “We are responding to anincreasingly mobile student and faculty population,” said Roy Bernard, Interim VP for Information Technology.
