TNCC Adds New Online Continuing Education Courses for Engineers, Architects, Contractors, Surveyors, Landscapers and Building Inspectors

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development, Office of Continuing Education, in partnership with RedVector, now offers a course library that boasts more than 2,100 essential and interactive offerings.  These online courses cover continuing education requirements and professional development training for Engineering, Architecture, Interior design, Construction, Land Surveying, Building Inspection and Landscape Architecture Industries.

Each online course meets the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations requirements for Engineers, Architects, Contractors, Land Surveyors, Landscape Architects and other industry professionals. (more…)

TNCC Precision Welding Center Ribbon Cutting Set for Thursday, May 13

Peninsula businesses and local officials will celebrate the official opening of the new Precision Welding Center at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.  The facility, which can train up to 75 welders per month for entry level skilled welding positions, is located in the Peninsula Workforce Development Center at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.

TNCC President Alvin J. Schexnider will recognize Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, Alcoa Foundation, and Miller Electric for their contributions to the $225,000 center.

TNCC Opens Precision Welding Center and Announces Subsidized Program for Welders

In response to the increasing shortage of skilled welders on the Peninsula, Thomas Nelson Community College is launching a new “Precision Welding Center” and kicking it off with a new, 3-month, hands-on subsidized welding training program leading to national credentials. The first course of 20 students is scheduled for May at TNCC’s newly expanded, state-of-art Welding Center in the Peninsula Workforce Development Center.  Though applicants are required to pay a non-refundable $275 registration fee, the remaining training costs are sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

TNCC Job Fair Offers Free Help to Job Seekers and Prospective Entrepreneurs

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development offers Peninsula job seekers the opportunity to find jobs with more than 30 hiring employers at its annual spring job fair on Thursday, April 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center (PWDC) located at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.

In addition, the job fair features workshops on starting a business, writing resumes, interviewing, finding federal jobs and more. Last year, over one thousand people attended this event. (more…)

People struggling to survive today’s economic turbulence may find some support at a Community Resource Fair scheduled Thursday, February 18 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center (PWDC), 600 Butler Farm Road, Hampton.

The Empowering the Community Resource Fair sponsored by Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development and Peninsula Worklink will feature a variety of community vendors and employers on site to answer questions and provide helpful information to attendees.
