Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development will host a Hampton Police Law Enforcement Job Recruiting Session on Wednesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. in Room 726 in TNCC’s Hampton III Building, located at 525 Butler Farm Road. The Fair is free and open to TNCC students and the general public. The dress code is business casual.
Available positions include: Police Patrol Officer, 911 Dispatcher, Forensic Specialist, Staff Technician, Information Clerk, Records Clerk, School Crossing Guard and Administrative Assistant, and Police Cadet. Thomas Nelson Community College Criminal Justice faculty, David Coffey has released the second edition of Law Enforcement for the Twenty-First Century, a book he co-authored with University of Illinois Criminal Justice faculty, Tom Dempsey. Coffey is also Program Head for the Administration of Justice and Legal programs at Thomas Nelson Community College.
Law Enforcement for the Twenty-First Century identifies and thoroughly examines the entry-level training topics that are of utmost importance in the career of a law enforcement officer. The book is the result of research conducted by Coffey and Dempsey in 40 states during which they identified the similarities of entry level law enforcement education and training. This edition of the book includes current case law and changes that have occurred legally in a post 9-11 environment.
