Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Performing Arts Department will bring William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” to the Hampton campus weekends April 12 — 21 at the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium in Templin Hall. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students, seniors, military and TNCC personnel and are available at www.tncc.edu/performingarts/ .
Shakespeare’s most popular and widely performed comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” was written in the 1500s and explores the universal theme of love and its complications including lust, disappointment, confusion and marriage. Set in mythical Athens, it depicts three parallel stories — the adventures of two sets of young lovers camping in a magical forest, the world of a fairy king and queen interacting with their fairies and a group of amateur actors rehearsing a poorly written play about a wedding.
