Parking Advisory: TNCC’s Fourth Annual Car Show

Several Hampton campus parking lots will be closed to students, faculty and staff on September 14-15 to host TNCC’s Fourth Annual Car Show. The event  takes place 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15. Training areas designated for Workforce Development’s Motorcycle Safety Training class will not be affected.

The following lots will be closed to students, faculty and staff:

  • Parking Lot 7 (between Moore and Hastings halls), Friday and Saturday
  • All parking lots along Thomas Nelson Drive, Saturday

The following lot will be open Saturday for student, faculty and staff parking:

  • Parking Lot 5 (behind Wythe Hall)

2012-2011 TNCC parking permits expire Friday, August 31

The College’s 2011-2012 parking permits expire on Friday, August 31. TNCC Police will begin ticketing for expired permits and other parking violations on Tuesday, September 4. Police Chief Kelvin Maxwell encourages students, faculty and staff to use designated parking areas and respect individuals’ reserved spaces.

Applications for 2012-2013 parking permits are available online.


TNCC Workforce Development Hosts Hampton Police Job Recruiting Session on February 1

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development will host a Hampton Police Law Enforcement Job Recruiting Session on Wednesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. in Room 726 in TNCC’s Hampton III Building, located at 525 Butler Farm Road. The Fair is free and open to TNCC students and the general public. The dress code is business casual.

Available positions include: Police Patrol Officer, 911 Dispatcher, Forensic Specialist, Staff Technician, Information Clerk, Records Clerk, School Crossing Guard and Administrative Assistant, and Police Cadet. TNCC Police Host Safety Awareness Event Aug. 23

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) Campus Police will promote safety awareness during “Blue Light Special” on Tuesday, August 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Griffin Hall lobby on the Hampton campus and on the second floor of the Historic Triangle campus in Williamsburg. This marks the fourth year for the semi-annual event.

Co-sponsored by Student Activities, the event is an opportunity to meet members of the College’s police force and learn useful, lifesaving information. Attendees will receive information about driving safety and alcohol awareness. TNCC police will also provide parking rules and regulations and information about the e2Campus system, a self-service, web-based, mass notification network that allows TNCC to send instant alerts to faculty, staff and students.


Thomas Nelson Names New Campus Police Chief

Thomas Nelson Community College has selected Acting Police Chief Kelvin Maxwell as its new Police Chief effective Monday, July 25. Maxwell assumed his position as Acting Police Chief on July 13, 2010 after serving nearly five years as an administrative sergeant with the College’s Police Department.

The law enforcement veteran has 14 years of experience having been on police forces at Old Dominion University and Hampton University before joining TNCC in 2006. In his previous position with the College, Maxwell served as department training officer, primary statistics specialist and liaison between TNCC and the State Police.

Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Department of Police and Security invites all students, faculty, staff and the public to a Safety Symposium on Tuesday, October 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium located in Templin Hall, Hampton campus.

The free event provides updates on issues that impact security and safety on campus. Special guests in law enforcement and public safety from throughout the area will be on hand to present information on an array of topics. Please support this great community partnership. The schedule is as follows:
