The Nursing Department at Thomas Nelson Community College will hold a Nursing Pinning Ceremony for its 52 associate degree Nursing graduates on Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Newport News. Family and friends of the Nursing graduates are invited to attend.
A symbolic, but meaningful event, the Pinning Ceremony marks a new facet in the personal and professional lives of these graduating Nursing students. The ceremony also symbolizes the students’ commitment to the nursing profession. During the ceremony, the nurses will recite the Nightingale Pledge, named after nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, as they promise to practice their profession faithfully, aid the physician in his work, and devote themselves to the welfare of those committed to their care.
