RICHMOND — Virginia undergraduate students at public colleges and universities in the Commonwealth can expect to pay 7.3% more on average in tuition and mandatory fees in 2007-08 than they did during the previous academic year, according to the annual report from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
The report, entitled “2008-09 Tuition and Fees at Virginia’s State-Supported Colleges and Universities,” reveals that in-state students at four-year institutions will experience an average increase in tuition and mandatory fees of 7.0%, or about an additional $499 per year. Virginia students attending community colleges will be faced with a 7.5% increase, paying about $180 more per year.
