Do you have a passion for the stage? Now is the time to show off your acting ability. Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Department of Performing Arts will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedic opera, “The Mikado” July 12-21. Open auditions will be held at 7 p.m. April 14 and 16 on the Hampton campus on the first floor of Templin Hall.
Audition participants will be asked to prepare two contrasting musical selections no more than one minute each and two contrasting monologues not to exceed two minutes each. Ideally, all audition materials should be performed from memory. An accompanist will be provided for musical selections. Five men, four women and a chorus of school-girls, nobles and guards will be selected for the production.
“The Mikado,” set in Japan, is a twisted tale of love, politics and crime. First performed in London in 1885, it remains one of the most popular musical theater productions of all time.
