TNCC-WD Offering New Training for Local Businesses in March

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development is offering the following new training programs for businesses and their employees in March.

  •  Ethical Hacking – March 12- April 18, Tuesdays and Thursdays (6-10 p.m.) – Designed for IT professionals, this training will enhance workers’ abilities to recognize weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and use the same knowledge and tools as malicious hackers to protect their business from attacks.  To register, call 757-825-2937. $2000. This course is offered at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.
  • OSHA Training – Offered at a TNCC location or at a client’s location, this 10-hour course will cover general hazards as well as hazards communications. To register or schedule a class, call 757-865-3122. $250.

TNCC Workforce Development Expands Green Jobs Training

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development (TNCC-WD) has expanded green technology training programs for workers in the field of residential modeling, weatherization and home energy efficiency. The College recently conducted a successful pilot program with Peninsula employees and contractors, and is now opening the training to all interested workers.

Collaborating with local green agencies, TNCC designed the new training programs to provide building contractors and construction trades workers with the knowledge and skills required to upgrade homes to today’s energy standards.


TNCC Nurse Aide Program Enrolling

Thomas Nelson Community College’s two-month Nurse Aide program in Williamsburg is now registering. This state-approved program prepares you to provide direct patient care under supervision, help long term care residents, and qualifies you to take Virginia’s Nurse Aide Exam.

Classes are held at the Williamsburg campus, 4601 Opportunity  Way, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Middle College Expands to Williamsburg

Workforce Development now offers the Middle College program in Williamsburg. The free program prepares young adults ages 18-24 years for in-demand careers as they earn their GED. Classes take place at TNCC’s Historic Triangle campus is Williamsburg. Available training includes Nurse Aide, Welding, HVAC, Medical Coding and Billing, Automotive, and more.

Middle College offers young adults who have not completed high school opportunities and employment training. In less than eight weeks, students can earn their GED and enroll in college via this innovative initiative. Since the program’s inception in 2009, TNCC has graduated several students and put them on the pathway to a rewarding career.
