ECMC Begins Mailing Notification Letters to Borrowers Affected by Data Theft

Regarding the recently announced data theft at the ECMC headquarters, ECMC informs the financial aid community that it began mailing notification letters to affected individuals on March 31. ECMC anticipates that all letters will be delivered no later than April 12. Each letter will include an individual activation code for enrollment in a suite of credit protection services provided for by ECMC through Experian.

Important News for TNCC Student Loan Borrowers

The Financial Aid Office at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) is writing to alert you to an incident of data theft involving student loans. As you may have seen in the media, a theft occurred last week at ECMC (Educational Credit Management Corporation) headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. ECMC is TNCC’s loan guarantor.

It involved portable media devices that contained personally identifiable information of student loan borrowers. The stolen data contained information of approximately 3.3 million individuals, including names, addresses, dates of birth, and social security numbers. No checking, savings, or credit card account information was included in the data that was taken.

Historic Triangle Construction Update: December 2008

The new Historic Triangle campus is poised to open in 2009 as construction nears completion. Recently taken photos of the building’s exterior show how the campus is taking shape.

The first photo shows the graded roadway around the front of the building which will not be open for regular traffic; fire trucks and ambulances must have complete access to the structure. The second and third photos show outside benches being installed at the new Historic during the week of December 1.

Photographs taken recently at the new Historic Triangle campus on Opportunity Way at the Warhill site show that a number of areas are taking shape in preparation for the campus’s 2009 opening.

The first photo looks into the “student services” area from behind the staircase. The second is the view from inside the student services area. As shown in the photo, someone located at the reception desk will be able to see visitors entering the building and visitors will be able to see that individual as well.

TNCC Construction Update Historic Triangle Campus – Cupola Raising on Tuesday, July 29

Construction at the Thomas Nelson Community College Historic Triangle campus located at 4601 Opportunity Way continues to move at a steady place. On Tuesday, July 29,  at 8:00 a.m. W.M. Jordan contractors will raise the building’s cupola which will crown the College’s first and largest permanent building in its new campus. The cupola is the highest point on the building and will be visible from well off campus.  It has been incorporated into the design of the building to capture the character of traditional early American architecture.

TNCC Receives Update on Air Monitoring Tests

Thomas Nelson Community College has received initial results from air monitoring tests conducted by a private contractor on Friday, September 7 in Griffin Hall. Results indicate there is no presence of substances above hazardous exposure levels in the building. The testing contractor has advised that the College can occupy the building. The College is expecting a formal written report to be submitted by the testing contractor next week.

The College’s HVAC contractor has engaged a duct cleaning company to clean and sanitize the existing duct work in Griffin and Wythe Hall. In addition, the College has requested the contractor secure the services of a vendor to perform surface wiping and HEPA vacuuming of the section of Griffin Hall that was closed. This work is commencing today and is expected to be completed by Sunday, September 16.
