Update: Financial Aid services on the Hampton Campus

Beginning today, Monday August 2, the Office of Financial Aid, Veteran Affairs and Scholarships at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) will provide services for students from two Hampton campus locations.

Students who need to drop off Financial Aid or Veteran Affairs paperwork will see an advisor in room 212, Griffin Hall. Students who have questions about their Financial Aid or VA Benefits, will need to go to the Gallery located in Wythe Hall just past the Gators Cafeteria, next to the Library.

TNCC’s Veterans Affairs Coordinator Appointed to National Posts

HAMPTON, Va. — Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Coordinator for Veterans Affairs has been chosen to serve on the legislative committee of the National Association of Veterans Program Administrators (NAVPA). Tim Freeman was also selected to co-chair the organization’s Department of Defense liaison and received the NAVPA President’s Award for 2009.

Freeman previously served on NAVPA’s Board of Directors as education committee chair and Region II representative in 2008-2009.

Applying for money to attend classes at Thomas Nelson Community College isn’t nearly as complicated as you might think, and there’s guidance available at every step, says Kathie Anderson.

Anderson’s the college’s director of financial aid, veterans’ affairs and scholarships. It’s where financial aid of all types stops and starts. Anderson outlined the steps for a prospective student coming in with no money for classes. The goal is to exhaust every possible avenue for free money.

Thomas Nelson Community College’s Coordinator of Veterans Affairs Tim Freeman has been selected to serve on the National Association of Veterans Program Administrators (NAVPA) Board of Directors as education committee chair and Region II representative.

Founded in 1975, NAVPA is an organization of program administrators who are employed by colleges, universities, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs across the nation to ensure that student veterans receive the best service and most accurate access to their GI Bill benefits. Additionally NAVPA addresses areas of interest and opportunity for veterans besides education while also focusing on professional development for members.
