The Virginia Peninsula – A delegation of students, faculty, staff and administrators from Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) will be visiting the State Capitol in Richmond on Tuesday, January 31 and Tuesday, February 21 to thank legislators for their support to higher education and to keep legislators abreast of the needs of community colleges.

“It’s important for me to tell my legislators what TNCC means to me and to our community,” said Nashon Shutty, president of the Student Government Association. “TNCC continuously shapes and changes the lives of the students who attend this institution. This is the result of the dedication and commitment of the TNCC faculty members for their students. They support us and do their very best to engage us in a positive learning experience. In my three years at TNCC, I have yet to find one faculty member who is not all about helping their students succeed.” Shutty will graduate in May from TNCC with her fourth associate degree. She is currently attending TNCC and Old Dominion University where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Her long-term goal is to become an elementary school teacher.
