Middle College Expands to Williamsburg

Workforce Development now offers the Middle College program in Williamsburg. The free program prepares young adults ages 18-24 years for in-demand careers as they earn their GED. Classes take place at TNCC’s Historic Triangle campus is Williamsburg. Available training includes Nurse Aide, Welding, HVAC, Medical Coding and Billing, Automotive, and more.

Middle College offers young adults who have not completed high school opportunities and employment training. In less than eight weeks, students can earn their GED and enroll in college via this innovative initiative. Since the program’s inception in 2009, TNCC has graduated several students and put them on the pathway to a rewarding career.

TNCC Celebrates National Humor Month with Cinema Event

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) celebrates National Humor Month with a showing of “Best in Show” at noon on Wednesday, April 27. Free and open to the public, the event will be held in Room 110 at the Historic Triangle Campus, 4601 Opportunity Way, Williamsburg.

“Best in Show” follows five dog owners and their animals through the toils of entering a highly competitive dog show. Starring Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy, the 2000 mock documentary profiles the owners as they juggle the competition with unrelated events, including a chance encounter with an old lover.

TNCC Launches New Summer Camp Program for Children at the Historic Triangle Campus

Children in Williamsburg have a new option for summer fun this year.  Thomas Nelson Community College will offer short interactive summer camps for children ages 10-15 years old for the first time at the Historic Triangle campus. The camps will run from Monday, July 25 to Friday, July 29.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the first session and 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the second session. Campers may register for one session ($65) or two sessions ($120).

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) celebrates Patriot’s Day with a showing of “The Crossing” at noon on Wednesday, April 20. Free and open to the public, the event will be held in Room 110 at the Historic Triangle Campus, 4601 Opportunity Way, Williamsburg.

Patriot’s Day marks the battles of Lexington and Concord, the earliest battles of the Revolutionary War fought on April 19,1775 near Boston, Massachusetts. “The Crossing” highlights one of the most pivotal moments of the war and of George Washington’s military career. Based on Howard Fast’s bestselling novel of the same name, the 2000 film is a dramatization of Washington’s legendary journey across the Delaware River to launch a surprise attack on British soldiers at the Battle of Trenton.

Colleges Spring Fest is April 13 at Historic Triangle and April 21 in Hampton

The College’s annual Spring Fest takes place Wednesday, April 13 at the Historic Triangle campus from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday, April 21 on the Hampton campus  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Students, faculty and staff are invited to gather in campus courtyards for food, music provided by a disc jockey and other activities.

Picnic lunches will be available for $3, $1 for those with a TNCC Student ID. Donations for the South Africa Book Smart Foundation Drive will be accepted on-site. Those who donate textbooks during Spring Fest will receive $1 off of lunch.

Priority Registration for TNCCs Summer and Fall Classes Begins March 28

Priority registration for summer and fall 2011 classes at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) begins Monday, March 28 and lasts through Sunday, April 3. During this period, all currently enrolled students can register for summer and fall classes and also pay tuition for summer semester.

The College will begin accepting fall semester tuition payments on July 1. Summer classes begin Tuesday, May 17. Students may register and make summer tuition payments in person or online at www.tncc.edu under MyTNCC.
