Community business leaders can access the knowledge and experience of world-renowned leaders by attending the Chick-fil-A® Leadercast® at Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) in Hampton, Va. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10.

Chick-fil-A® Leadercast® is a one-day leader development event broadcast LIVE from Atlanta, Ga. to hundreds of sites throughout the nation, including TNCC’s Workforce Development Office in the Peninsula Workforce Development Center (PWDC). Speakers for this year’s event include:

Parking Advisory: TNCC’s Fourth Annual Car Show

Several Hampton campus parking lots will be closed to students, faculty and staff on September 14-15 to host TNCC’s Fourth Annual Car Show. The event  takes place 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15. Training areas designated for Workforce Development’s Motorcycle Safety Training class will not be affected.

The following lots will be closed to students, faculty and staff:

  • Parking Lot 7 (between Moore and Hastings halls), Friday and Saturday
  • All parking lots along Thomas Nelson Drive, Saturday

The following lot will be open Saturday for student, faculty and staff parking:

  • Parking Lot 5 (behind Wythe Hall)

TNCC Workforce Development Hosts Hampton Police Job Recruiting Session on February 1

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development will host a Hampton Police Law Enforcement Job Recruiting Session on Wednesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. in Room 726 in TNCC’s Hampton III Building, located at 525 Butler Farm Road. The Fair is free and open to TNCC students and the general public. The dress code is business casual.

Available positions include: Police Patrol Officer, 911 Dispatcher, Forensic Specialist, Staff Technician, Information Clerk, Records Clerk, School Crossing Guard and Administrative Assistant, and Police Cadet. TNCC Workforce Development Expands Green Jobs Training

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development (TNCC-WD) has expanded green technology training programs for workers in the field of residential modeling, weatherization and home energy efficiency. The College recently conducted a successful pilot program with Peninsula employees and contractors, and is now opening the training to all interested workers.

Collaborating with local green agencies, TNCC designed the new training programs to provide building contractors and construction trades workers with the knowledge and skills required to upgrade homes to today’s energy standards.


New TNCC Workforce Training Responds to Increasing Demand for Cyber Security

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development (TNCC-WD) is now offering education in one of today’s fastest growing career fields: cyber security. The College recently received grants from Virginia’s Community College System to implement cyber security training across the Peninsula.

The grants give TNCC the resources to collaborate with Internet security firms to train new cyber security professionals. Participants will obtain the expertise necessary to reduce vulnerability in their information infrastructures, as well as to meet new National Security Administration standards.
