Thomas Nelson Community College will test its emergency alert system on Wednesday, March 5 at campuses in Hampton and Williamsburg from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Those on and near the campuses can expect to hear tones and voice messages sounding from the College’s mass notification towers during the drill.
The College will test all components of its emergency alert system including campus-wide faculty and staff email; visual and audio warnings on campus telephones; and e2Campus alerts. Used by roughly 650 campuses nationwide, e2Campus is an emergency notification system that enables the transmission of instant alerts to cell phones, land lines and other devices.
College officials coordinated with emergency managers in Hampton and Williamsburg in scheduling the tests.
