Thomas Nelson Community College to Offer Eight Week Session this Fall Semester

The Virginia Peninsula – New and returning students at Thomas Nelson Community College still have the opportunity to start or continue their education this fall. A new eight-week accelerated session starts on Saturday, October 14. The weekday classes will begin on Monday, October 16. The new session comprises more than 50 courses offered at the Hampton and the Historic Triangle campuses and includes traditional day and evening classes as well as online classes.  The full class schedule of the eight-week session is posted at:

Through Tuesday, October 3, students can register online at From October 4 – 9, the Virginia Community College System will be upgrading and enhancing the computerized student information system. In preparation for the conversion, online registration services will not be available during this time. Students can register for classes in person anytime during the following times: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room 208, Griffin Hall on the Hampton campus and in Building 161 A at the Historic Triangle campus. Tuition payment for the eight-week class session is due at the time of registration. During the system’s shutdown, only credit cards and checks will be accepted for tuition payments.

The following classes will be offered in the eight-week class session: Principles of Accounting I, College Composition I and II, Algebra I, II and College Algebra, United States History II, Introduction to Psychology I, College Success Skills,  Web Page Design, Introduction to Information Systems, Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts, WAN Technologies CISCO, Writing for Business, Communications Processes I, Survey of American Literature, History and Appreciation of Art II, Music Appreciation II, Ethics, Principles of Public Speaking, Basic Counseling Skills, General Biology I, Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to Mathematics, Elementary Statistics,  Pre-calculus, Medical Terminology, Yoga, Bowling, and Sports Appreciation.
