Dr. Daniel Lufkin has joined Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) as Vice President for Student Affairs. He comes to Thomas Nelson having previously served as Dean of Enrollment Management at GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
As Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Lufkin oversees all matters related to enrollment management, student services and student life. He is charged to ensure that all processes related to admissions, registration and records function efficiently and that a broad range of activities are provided to support students’ personal growth and academic success.
While at GateWay, a Maricopa Community Colleges institution, he held several posts dating back to 2001 including Assistant Athletic Director; Director of Athletics; Director of Student Life/Leadership, Athletics & Wellness; Interim Dean for Student Affairs and Associate Dean of Enrollment Management. From 2006-2008, he was President of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. Additionally, Dr. Lufkin is a member of the American Student Government Association and the National Council on Student Development, among other professional organizations.
His background in education also includes elementary and junior high school teaching stints with Phoenix, Arizona’s Roosevelt School District and the Gilbert Public School District in Gilbert, Arizona.
Dr. Lufkin has a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
