Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development is connecting veterans and employers during the Veterans Job and Career Fair on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center (PWDC) at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.
Representatives from more than a dozen of the region’s top manufacturing, retail, finance and other leading industries will be present, including Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Greg Garrett Realty, Hampton Roads Transit and Newport News Shipbuilding.
“It’s important for our organization to actively recruit veterans to become a part of our workforce,” stated Edward Joyner, staffing manager at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. “We want to honor what veterans have done for our country while recognizing the valuable skills they have acquired as a result of their experiences.”
The career fair will also offer career workshops on topics including successful networking, resume writing, federal job searching and more.
Job fair attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes as some employers will conduct on-site interviews.
The Veterans Job and Career Fair is part of a four-day observance of Veterans beginning on Nov. 11, with a Veterans Day breakfast and moment of silence.
