TNCC Announces Vice-President’s Award Winner

THE VIRGINIA PENINSULA – Kari Lynn McPherson, of Newport News, Va. is the recipient of the Vice-President’s Award for the Thomas Nelson Community College 2005-2006 graduating class.

McPherson is being recognized for her academic achievements during the pursuit of an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude, with a 4.0 grade point average (GPA). She plans to continue her education at a four-year institution of higher education in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in accounting and ultimately become a Certified Public Accountant.

McPherson has been a student at Thomas Nelson since spring 2003. She acknowledges her time at Thomas Nelson Community College as, “An experience I will value for the rest of my life.” She resides in Newport News with husband, Daniel McPherson.

The President’s Award and the Vice-President’s Award are presented at commencement ceremonies each spring. Criteria for these awards include, attaining the greatest cumulative GPA, completing at least 60 semester hours of course work, receiving an associate’s degree for the current year, and taking an active role in college activities.
